For many years Astrid Bammens has been collecting all kinds of items around the Belgian Dynasty. From 29th August until 3rd September 1995 she organised an exhibition in Castle "Du Four" at Retie to commemorate Queen Astrid. No less than 5000 people came to visit the royal exhibition in one single weekend.

However, her big dream was to establish a permanent museum about this Queen and the whole Belgian Dynasty. That dream came true on 29th August 2001, when by joining forces, and with the approval of the court, a building - former catering - at Antwerpsesteenweg 1 in Leopoldsburg, was purchased, renovated and converted into a museum.

The museum is meant not only for royalists, but also for everyone. All Belgians, and of course all foreign visitors are most welcome.
